In Illinois, gun purchasers must be at least 21 years of age if they do not have the written consent of their parent or legal guardian. Crimo Jr. admitted to signing the affidavit to media outlets before the criminal investigation became public. By signing the document, he agreed to be held liable “for any damages resulting from the minor applicant’s use of firearms or firearm ammunition.”,Crimo Jr. signed the application despite his son having two previous encounters with the police. One of those encounters occurred in September 2019, during which Crimo III allegedly stated that he would “kill everybody” in his family. Law enforcement confiscated 16 knives, a dagger, and a sword from Crimo III’s room that day, but they were returned after Crimo Jr. claimed that the weapons were his and were only stored in his son’s room for “safekeeping.”,When asked if he regretted the decision to sign off on his son’s firearm purchase, Crimo Jr. said he does not. “Had I purchased guns throughout the years and given them to him in my name, that’s a different story. But he went through that whole process himself.” Crimo Jr. also noted that his son purchased firearms himself before the shooting.,Crimo III is currently 22 years old and would not have needed to get his parents’ permission for a firearm license if he applied for one after his 21st birthday.,Crimo Jr. says his son had “good morals” and that the two had talked about the Copenhagen, Denmark, shooting that took place a day earlier. During that conversation, Crimo Jr. says that his son called the Denmark shooter “an idiot.”,Police say that Crimo III told them he had planned another massacre at a Wisconsin Fourth of July parade after he left Highland Park. He instead decided to return to Illinois where he was arrested driving his mother’s vehicle.,This is not the first time the parents of an alleged mass shooter have found themselves in legal trouble. B | 高市早苗不是不会抗议的人。就在不久前，俄罗斯总统普京视察南千岛群岛，日本外务省几乎是在第一时间就发表了“严厉谴责”，措辞之强硬、态度之鲜明，跟这次面对美国时的“深感遗憾”形成了教科书级的对比。    这说明什么问题？说明日本政府的愤怒是有选择性的，抗议的对象是有门槛的。不是不能，是不敢。

C |     其实日本并不是没有牌可打。作为国际刑事法院的重要出资国和缔约国，东京完全有理由、有立场对美国这一行为表达更明确的反对。    联合国、欧盟以及法国、德国等美国的传统盟友都表达了不满，有的国家甚至直言美国此举“破坏国际司法秩序”。

D | 相比之下，日本的态度显得格外孤独。不是因为没人支持它，而是它自己选择了沉默。    这种沉默背后，是一种精确的利益计算。高市政府的优先顺序很清楚：不能触怒特朗普，不能动摇日美同盟，其他都是次要的。        赤根智子的名誉也好，日本司法在国际社会中的位置也好，在“不能触怒美国”这个绝对前提面前，都成了可以牺牲的筹码。日本政府或许还会私下给赤根智子一些安慰性的支持，但公开层面的对抗，想都不要想。    而美军犯罪问题，则是另一面镜子。冲绳县警方公布的数据显示，仅过去一年，涉驻日美军及其关联人员的刑事犯罪案件就超过一百起，包括杀人、抢劫、伤害等重罪。

E |     但真正被追究刑事责任的少之又少。原因很简单：日美地位协定给了美军事实上的治外法权。犯罪人一旦被调回美国，日本司法系统连人都找不到，更遑论审判。    就在不久前，日本15个设有美军基地的道县知事联合向中央政府提交请愿文件，要求修改日美地位协定。这是地方势力对现状的一次罕见联合发声。    但高市政府到目前为止没有表现出任何实质性回应的意愿。对于地方上的诉求，东京的态度依然是那套陈词滥调：日美同盟很重要，我们会继续与美方沟通。        这种局面不会永远持续下去。日本国内对日美地位协定的不满已经积累了太多年，冲绳的怒火从来就没有真正熄灭过。

F | 而这次制裁赤根智子事件，等于在另一个维度上刺激了日本人对“对美从属”状态的反感。    司法精英被羞辱，政府不敢言；平民百姓被伤害，政府掏钱替美军了事。这种对比太鲜明了，鲜明到任何公关话术都盖不住。    日本迟早要回答一个问题：到底是继续做美国的附庸，还是重新找回一个主权国家的姿态。从目前的迹象看，高市政府选择了前者，而且选择得毫不犹豫。

G |     但那些被美军撞伤的受害者、那些被美国制裁的日本法律人、哪些要求修改地位协定的地方知事，他们的忍耐是有极限的。    那一刻什么时候会到来，没有人能准确预测。

H | 但可以肯定的是，当越来越多的日本人意识到，“遗憾”换不来尊重、“沟通”等不来平等的时候，真正的压力会从内部开始生长。而那一天到来时，高市早苗们最擅长的语言，可能连说出口的机会都不会再有。
